Cyber X Designs is committed to the open source community and is an active participant. This year we have chosen to sponsor Joomla! Day NYC.
Joomla! Day NYC was a sold out event that was held in mid-town Manhattan on October 10, 2009. The organizers lined up an elite group of speakers and workshop leaders including: Jen Kramer (Senior Interface Developer and co-owner of 4Web, Inc., and senior faculty member at the Marlboro College Graduate Center), Rafael Diaz-Tushman (President, Dioscouri), Tom Deryckere (Software Architect at Siruna.com), Mitch Pirtle (a Joomla! project co-founder and Vice President of Developer Relations at NYC-based KickApps), Elin Waring (President of Open Source Matters), Barrie North (Author, IT Consultant, Joomlashack Partner, as well as owner of SimpleWeb), Donna Vincent (Web Site Developer).
The list of programs included: Joomla vs Drupal - pros and cons of each system, Blackbelt Joomla! - A look at common usability and marketing mistakes and how to fix them, Joomla! Business Tools, Entrepreneurs and Joomla!, Templates 1.5 - For developers ready to create their own templates, Creating a Mobile web site, and KickApps / Social Media, Build Custom Modules.
We sponsored the event because we deploy Joomla! for our customers and feel responsible to give back to the community by providing a forum for the exchange of skills and techniques.
Joomla! is a content management system (CMS), programming framework and one of the most widely adopted open source PHP projects. It has been voted “Best Open Source Project” twice and has a thriving community. We are grateful to have had the opportunity to deploy high performance solutions for enterprises like Pfizer and for bootstrapped businesses like Relevant Times magazine.
If you have a Joomla! project that is struggling, you need a new Joomla! site or you need someone to maintain your Joomla! web site, call Cyber X Designs at 201-558-7929 or contact us.
